Practice today

It was sunny and the temp reached well into the upper 50s today, if not 60 degrees for a short time, and truthfully, I didn't want to spend an hour in the car and then an hour inside practicing agility. But I did it anyway....baby dogs need training! Besides, we've been getting outside a lot lately in all kinds of weather for hiking/conditioning, and that needs to be balanced with skill work on obstacles and handling with equipment.

Our last ring rental was 10 days ago. Today, I wanted to do a little obstacle performance work, but I wanted to spend more time on easy sequences. I was able to accomplish all of this. We worked on:

  • collection and extension work with jump/tunnel jump (warm up)
  • the teeter (end performance with back chaining & handler walk bys)
  • easy, loopy sequences with some jumps at angles and offset from one another
  • RCs on the flat
  • a couple of A-frames in sequence; needs more work (not leaping apex)
  • the chute was part of the mini course, and I put him through the weaves once
Emma got to play around a little while Revel was taking a break, but I didn't do anything very serious with her. We used the travel plank to practice 2o2o at speed coming out of a tunnel, and did a few DWs. We  have a trial this coming weekend, and I need to think about what I want to do with her to prepare. It looks like the weather may let us get some outdoor practice in!
