Very slowly coming together...

Revel had a ring rental today. I had several things I wanted to work on: contact end position, 24" weaves, sequencing/handling. I was also prepared to work on the A-frame as well, but there was no stride regulator available, and I think I want to have one ready next time we work on it.

Revel's weaves were lovely today--he liked the 24" inch poles, as I suspected he would. We did 1-2 jumps before and 1 jump after, plus some difficult entries. I am loving his weaving all the way around.

Contact end position is coming along. Needs more work to have the drive and understand I'm looking for, but we're definitely making progress. We just need more time and practice in different locations. I asked him to move about 1 step into position today, so that was completely new. We need to backchain on the stairs first, then come back to the raised plank for better understanding. But he dealt well with the change.

Sequencing was a pleasant surprise! I focused on giving forward cues and using basic turns with 2-4 jumps at a time. He went around the panel jump--he also did that at our rental at the dirt arena earlier this week, so I know he isn't comfortable with it. Doubles and triples are no problem at all, and he did the tire correctly every time this week (he wanted to go under it the first time he saw it in a frame). I'll have to bring my panel jump inside and work on all the RTH positions with it in the basement.

So, our focus in the coming weeks will be:
  • contact end position
  • A-frame performance
  • basic turns continued (need to work on pull and push more)
  • location exercises in DJS (need to get back to DJS work)
  • panel jump

Yay! So glad things are coming together! I love to read other people's training plans - gives me ideas for what we could work on :)
